MONTHLY LUNCHEON “Concert by Miraika”
a “new sound” through the collaboration
of
You will not want to miss our September luncheon entertainment! We are pleased to present the musical group, Miraika. This group of musicians has garnered praise for their development of a “new sound” through the collaboration of Western and traditional Japanese musical instruments.
Satomi Hidaka, Koto performer, established the Miraika group:
miraika means "flowers for the future". As their name
implies, Miraika's goal is “to seek the vast and broad future
possibilities of music”. Just recently, Hidaka performed
for the Chinese President when he attended the Summit Conference
in Hokkaido.
Miraika plays a diverse range of music from classical, pop, and
jazz to traditional Japanese music and melodies. The group
who will perform for us consists of Koto, Seventeen-String Koto,
Shakuhachi, and Violin players, presenting a variety of
international music.
Be sure to join us on September 17th.
It will be a wonderful
start to our upcoming fall CWAJ activities, as you enjoy an
excellent performance by a very talented group of musicians!
