December Luncheon Program

 

Join us in December for an exciting program of violin, cello and tap dancing! Machiko Ozawa, a New York based violinist, will dazzle us with the likes of Bach, Kodaly, Haversoll, Piazolla and her own original compositions.

Ms. Ozawa received her Bachelor’s degree from Tokyo University of Fine Arts and Music (Tokyo Gei-Dai) and then went on to receive a Diploma from the Guildhall Music School in London and a Masters degree from The Juilliard School in New York. She made her debut at the Carnegie Weill Hall in 2002 and has performed widely since then in Japan, the United States and Europe as a soloist, chamber music player and orchestra member in such venues as Suntory Hall, Tokyo Bunka Kaikan, Avery Fisher Hall, Royce Hall and the Barbican Centre.

Though trained within the classical tradition, Ms. Ozawa’s musical interests include jazz, improvisation, world music and computer music as will be evidenced by her musical choices for this concert, so please come expecting the unexpected!

Ms. Ozawa will be accompanied on cello by Ms. Lin-Ling Wang, a fellow Juilliard graduate from Taiwan who will be visiting Japan in December. And last but not least, the tap dancing! In a spirited rendition of Argentine Tango, our violinist will perform her unique style of tap dancing that adds a marvelous percussive touch! You’ll have to see it to believe it.
