| With the support of CWAJ – Friends of Music, Jeannette Ohmae and her group Cantabile Kojimachi, have kindly organized a special Charity Concert whose proceeds will go to the Great East Japan Earthquake Charity. | ||
| DUO have innovated the legacy of Tsugaru-shamisen and shinobue music through there virtuoso performances. The music originated in northern Japan, which DUO has adapted and created into their own music by fusing the traditional Tohoku folk music with soul and blues from the west. Their name is rapidly becoming internationally famous and therefore they have been performing abroad frequently. They were selected as the official WOMEX showcase artist winning over 750 candidates from all corners of the globe. | ||
| Shunsuke Kimura is renowned as a composer and performer of Japanese traditional instruments in Japan. He is the recipient of the Grand Prix Award in the 2nd ADD Tsugaru-shamisen Contest in 2002. | ||
| Etsuro Ono studied the Tsugaru-shamisen under the late grand master Chisato Yamada and is also the recipient of an award in the National Tsugaru-shamisen competition. He performs with many other groups including the famous “Wariki” which he and Mr. Katogi established. | ||
| Akira Katogi began his training in traditional Japanese dance from early childhood. He was first a member of the internationally famous Warabi-za, a dance theater ensemble and later joined other troupes where he received valuable training. In 1999 he became an independent dancer, later formed “Wariki” with Mr. Kimura. He has performed at the Chrsitian Dior Haute Couture Fashion Show in Paris in 2005. | ||
| Friends of Music and Cantabile Kojimachi hope that as many members as possible will be able to attend this rare and superb performance. Through your attendance, continual support of the disaster victims in the Tohoku area will be possible. | ||
