Graduate Scholarship for Japanese Women to Study Abroad (SA) 
  ASAKURA Keiko

Study Program: MPH, Quantitative Methods, Harvard School of Public Health
 
  As a physician and researcher for 10 years, Ms Asakura recognized problems of clinical research in Japan. She hopes to contribute to promoting high quality research by studying Epidemiology & Biostatistics.

 
  KOBAYASHI Chisato  
  BEng, Aerospace Engineering, Osaka Prefecture University
Study Program: ME, Surrey Space Centre, University of Surrey (UK)
 
  Formerly a manager of small satellite development project, Ms Kobayashi’s ambition is to develop space systems that benefit humanity, specifically for educational assistance to developing areas where information access is limited.

 
  SUGIURA Kanna

Study Program: MPH, Public Health, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (UK)
 
  Through clinical experience, Dr Sugiura found that societal and family support are just as important as drugs and institutionalization – common treatment in Japan. Her goal is to improve psychiatric services in Japan and internationally.

  Ms Frances’ previous research contributed to changes in British public health law. Now, while researching international marriage, she hopes to find a legal resolution to conflicting child custody laws for binational children.

  Ms Tumur will apply the research and leading medical technology which she has learned from her study in Japan to investigating causes and remedies of chronic kidney disease in Xinjiang.

  Dr Aziz came to Japan to study physiology and research mechanisms of motor learning to enable her to aid and cure children with motor learning disorders in Pakistan and around the world.

  LONG Ne (People’s Republic of China)  
  BS, Biotechnology, Hefei University of Technology (China)
Study program: PhD, Experimental Pathology and Tumor Biology,
Graduate School of Medical Sciences, Nagoya City University.
 
  Ms Long’s experience in Japan as a researcher on a new therapy for breast cancer led her to choose a career in advancing cancer therapies and making a real difference in the world.  

Scholarship for the Visually Impaired - Study in Japan (SVI-SJ)

  Ms Nara studies mental care and Braille teaching methods for low vision students and hopes to be a teacher for low vision students at a school for the visually impaired.

  Mr Sato hopes his sociological research on understanding disabilities within the context of society can be applied to creating practical public policies and social policy for future generations.

  A student of Edo period art history and member of the British Museum’s Department of Asia, Ms Brooks’ long-term goal is to be a curator of Japanese art at a national institution.
