Welcome to the CWAJ website.
Our organization, the College Women’s Association of Japan, is a volunteer group of women from 30 countries established in 1949, whose primary mission is the provision of scholarships for women wanting to further their studies both in Japan and overseas. We also provide other scholarships for visually impaired students and for nursing students at Fukushima Medical University and the Fukushima Medical University Graduate School of Nursing that are open to both men and women.
All CWAJ scholarships are funded by donations and by the proceeds from the CWAJ Print Show, an annual exhibition of Japanese prints and sale which has continued since 1956. However in 2016 the regular Print Show was not held in autumn as the very successful “Kanreki Exhibition” held in 2015 to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the Print Show travelled to Highfield Hall & Gardens in Falmouth, Cape Cod in the United States from June to October. Many members from Japan and other parts of the world attended the Opening Ceremony held at Highfield Hall & Gardens in June. It was a great opportunity to catch up with the Overseas Members in the US and many fun programs were planned during the week.
Through volunteer activities we nurture friendships with members from many nations that leads to the understanding of different cultures. We believe passionately in the education of women and encourage all our scholars to achieve their highest goals to make the world a better place. So far we have awarded to more than 800 students from 39 different nations from all over the world.
If you agree with our goals, why not attend one of our Luncheons and meet our members? (Please see “Join Us” section of this website.) If you find our organization to be a worthwhile place why not join? When you become a member, you will not only be able to have a rewarding experience through meaningful volunteer activities but also be able to enjoy multicultural friendships as well as cross-cultural programs. We would be delighted to have your interest, talent and support for our various committees and programs.
