Welcome to the CWAJ website.

Our organization, the College Women’s Association of Japan, is a volunteer group of women from 30 countries established in 1949, whose primary mission is the provision of scholarships for women wanting to further their studies both in Japan and overseas. We also provide other scholarships for visually impaired students and for nursing students at Fukushima Medical University and the Fukushima Medical University Graduate School of Nursing that are open to both men and women.

All CWAJ scholarships are funded by donations and by the proceeds from the CWAJ Print Show, an annual exhibition of Japanese prints and sale which has continued since 1956.

In 2017 the 61st Print Show was held at Hillside Forum, Daikanyama, Tokyo, moving from Tokyo American Club for the first time. The exhibition at the new venue was very successful and a smaller-scale Print Show will travel to Highfield Hall & Gardens in Falmouth, Cape Cod in the United States in summer of 2018. This exhibition features horticulture to commemorate the renovation of its historical botanic garden. The 62nd Print Show is scheduled to be open to the public from October 31st to November 4th, 2018 at Hillside Forum in Daikanyama again.

In 2019 CWAJ will celebrate its 70th Anniversary and is planning to offer reunion opportunities to catch up with Overseas members, many of whom are expected to visit Japan. Through volunteer activities we nurture friendships with members from many nations that leads to the understanding of different cultures. We believe passionately in the education of women and encourage all our scholars to achieve their highest goals to make the world a better place.  So far we have awarded to more than 800 students from 39 different nations from all over the world.

If you agree with our goals, why not attend one of our Luncheons and meet our members?  (Please see “Join Us” section of this website.) If you find our organization to be a worthwhile place why not join? When you become a member, you will not only be able to have a rewarding experience through meaningful volunteer activities but also be able to enjoy multicultural friendships as well as cross-cultural programs. We would be delighted to have your interest, talent and support for our various committees and programs.

Best Wishes,

Reiko Oshima
CWAJ President
