After a long, hot summer break, let’s enjoy walking through spacious green areas in Setagaya Ward near Futago-Tamagawa Station, with stops at local temples, shrines, historical homes and gardens. Even in urban Tokyo, one can surprisingly find an oasis of green and nature to enjoy with CWAJ friends!

This Hiking Group program will support the Tokyo English Lifeline (TELL) Step Up Challenge of 21,881 steps – the number of lives lost to suicide in Japan in 2022. We can walk these steps together as a group, promoting the themes of Creating Hope through Action (World Suicide Prevention Day) and Celebrating the Power of Community Kindness (World Mental Health Day). Supporting mental health care is a mission that CWAJ shares with TELL.

From Futako-Tamagawa Station, we’ll walk to Tamagawa Daishi Temple, which has a unique underground statuary. Our walk from there will include the Seta Tamagawa Shrine, Okamoto Park Historical Farmhouse, Kishin-en garden and more.
