TOPIC: Women’s Leadership Networking for Gender Equality

SPEAKER: Ms Setsuko Yamazaki

The September luncheon is always a great opportunity to catch up with fellow members after the summer break and learn about CWAJ activities for the year. We are fortunate to have Ms Setsuko Yamazaki join us as our guest speaker. As part of the core development work she focused on during her 30+ years with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), Ms Yamazaki will speak about helping women leaders enlarge their circles in other countries. Please join us for what is sure to be an insightful presentation.

Speaker Profile

Setsuko Yamazaki has returned to Japan with over three decades of development and management experience with the United Nations. Her work with the U.N. Development Programme (UNDP), an organization within the United Nations system, took her to postings in eight countries.  She held leadership and management positions in UNDP Country Offices in Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos and China. She also spent seven years in Europe (Geneva and Bonn) at the UN Volunteers Programme head office.  She started her formal career at UNDP HQ in New York, following an initial assignment in the Philippines.  Her U.N. areas of activity have included finance and budget, policy advice and program management, and volunteerism.  Prior to joining the U.N. she worked in international banking in Tokyo. Currently she is sharing her experiences with future global leaders as a specially-appointed professor at the Graduate School of Advanced Integrated Studies in Human Survivability, Kyoto University.
