This excursion will be a mixture of a ferry ride over Tokyo Bay, an uphill hike through fascinating structures of cut stones, a stroll through the gardens of Nihonji and a downhill ride on the ropeway.
We will meet at Kurihama Station on the Keikyu Line at 9.30 at the ticket gate to take the 9:50 bus to Kurihama Port. It will be a ten-minute ride costing 200 yen. We will buy return tickets at the port before the ferry departs at 10:20. The ferry ride across Tokyo Bay will take about 40 minutes.
After arrival at Kanaya Port on Chiba Peninsula we will start our hike to the top of Nokogiriyama to see the carved rocks. This will last about two hours. Enjoy the fabulous views over Tokyo Bay far out to the Pacific Ocean. We will have a brown bag lunch at Nihonji. Depending on time left we will stroll through Nihonji’s gardens before taking the ropeway down. Should time allow, we will stop for coffee in an old Japanese house along the way to the ferry. From there it will be about 10 minutes to the ferry pier. Before 15:20, we will board the return ferry to Kurihama Port on the Miura Peninsula. A bus to the station will leave soon after arrival. Anyone interested in walking back to Kurihama Station would take roughly 30 minutes.
