Friends of CWAJ

Friends of The College Women’s Association of Japan (Friends of CWAJ) is a US-based nonprofit organization with § 501(c)(3) status.

Our Mission

Friends of CWAJ assists the College Women’s Association of Japan with funds to support its Scholarship Program.

Scholarship is at the core of CWAJ’s mission and reflects a deep commitment to nurturing leadership and to supporting and enriching both the local and global community. CWAJ first offered travel grants to students in 1951 and by 1972, had turned its focus to building its Scholarship Program. Through its history, CWAJ has awarded nearly one billion yen to more than 870 grantees and scholars, including non-Japanese students from 49 countries.

Donations to Friends of CWAJ enable CWAJ to continue providing scholarships to Japanese women studying abroad, non-Japanese women pursuing a PhD in Japan, and visually impaired scholars attending university in Japan and overseas.
