March Greetings

Dear Members,

CWAJ is looking for your support.  CWAJ wants more members and sponsors!

Here’s how you can help. The Development Team and the VVI 50th Anniversary Committee have organized two very exciting events in March and April.

We want to use these events to advertise CWAJ’s commitment to education and community service. They exemplify CWAJ at its best and they are great opportunities to introduce friends and colleagues to CWAJ.  Please help us achieve our goal by inviting guests to join you at one of these events.

On March 6, CWAJ is celebrating International Women’s Day with a program: Inclusion through Innovation- Can AI bridge the gender gap in society? A panel of leading researchers will discuss a cutting edge topic-  the potential of AI to identify and correct gender biases.  After the program, there will be a social hour when you can network with others who share CWAJ’s commitment to the advancement of women. This event will be a memorable evening!

On April 19, there will be a Film Viewing and Talk Event celebrating CWAJ’s 50 years of support for the visually  impaired community. Life is Climbing is an exciting and heartwarming film about the friendship of Koichiro, “Koba”,  Kobayashi, an award winning para-climber, and his sighted guide, Naoya Suzuki, a professional rock climbing instructor and guide. After the film you will get to meet the two rock climbers in person during a  Q & A session. The film is in Japanese with English subtitles and UDCast with an audio description for the visually impaired.  This event is perfect for families and students and an outstanding way to highlight CWAJ’s long commitment to the visually impaired community.

I am so grateful to Marijke Munsiff for leading the organization of the IWD celebration and to Joanna Chinen for leading the Life Is Climbing event, both of which showcase CWAJ’s mission in such interesting and enjoyable ways. They provide an easy way to spread the word about CWAJ.

You can help by extending invitations to these special events and making plans to be there yourselves. Our greatest source of new members is personal introductions.

Thank you in advance for your support!

Onward and upward,

Heidi
CWAJ President
