- The Tokyo Helen Keller Association gave the 2025 Helen Keller Sullivan Award to CWAJ.
- Two Constitutional Amendments were approved at the October 8 General Meeting. CWAJ in the last month.
(1) change the name of the Education Committee to Community Service Committee.
(2) remove some details of membership payments from the Constitution, and move them to the appropriate Membership section of the SP&P. - On October 30, Membership Activities held the eighth information meeting for this year. Membership stands at 350 for the moment. An Overseas Member Call was held online on October 7.
- The Scholarship Committee’s work is underway with the assistance of 14 members on the SA Committee, 13 on the NJG Committee (plus five first round readers) and 10 on the SVI Committee.
- The 68th Print Show collected over JPY21 million gross profit this year. Ancillary activities this year included: Special TAC Exhibition, the Opening Reception, Cover Artist Catalogue Signing, Guided Tours, Hand on Art, Member Social Gathering, Scholars Alumni Gathering; Talk by Akiyama brothers (sons of Akiyama Iwao), Silkscreen demonstration by MOMMA Hidemi, FSC Visiting CWAJ Print Show, and Denizen Awardees visit. Highfield Hall profits are not yet final but, to date, we know that 103 prints were sold.
- The VVI Concert Special Committee has organized an elegant event for November 6. Over 200 people are expected to attend the concert featuring Rika Sugata, a 2021 SVI Scholar accompanied by Seina Kudo.
- The 50th Anniversary Booklet Committee finished the history of VVI. It will be distributed at the Concert on November 6 and uploaded to the VVI webpage.
- Approximately 80 attended the October General Meeting that featured an inspirational speaker, Mitsuhiro Iwamoto, a visually impaired sailor who sailed from Tokyo and San Diego.
- Eight EOC members held the October EOC class, “Fun with English” for 17 children.
- The Communications Director and Google Administrator continue their work with implementation of Google Work Space for the purpose of centralizing CWAJ files and documents.
- As of the end of September, Development has received generous donations of JPY9,311,433 from members and supporters. There was discussion about the best way to protect the privacy of donors’ contact information.
Proposals:
- Proposal approved: To approve 2026 Draft of SP&P: The Board approved the October draft of SP&P.
- Proposal approved: To establish a special CWAJ planning committee for the 70th anniversary of the Print Show. The committee members will be appointed by the President, including representatives from both Print Show and from across CWAJ. The Committee will be formed to celebrate past Print Shows and expand our impact in the future. This committee will report to the board with the dotted line to the Print Show Director.
