Membership Renewal
On September 30, the memberships of any members who had not renewed, after being sent reminder emails, were suspended, making them ineligible to participate in the Board Elections, and in October, the remaining members will be archived. Lapsed members are, of course, always welcome to rejoin.
Membership Statistics
As of October 8, we have 351 members: 205 Regular, 82 Overseas, 55 Supporting, 2 Junior, and 7 Scholars.
New/Renewing Members
We were very happy to welcome back Elena Fangazio as an Overseas Member.
Information Meeting /Membership Inquiries
On September 25, we hosted our seventh Information Meeting of the year, one prospective member attended, and we hope she will join soon. We have received three inquiries for Membership since that meeting. Unfortunately, all seem ineligible for membership: one seemed to be from a man, and the others live overseas.
Our next Information Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, October 30 at 20:00 (online).
An Overseas Member Call was held online on October 7, from 9:00 to 10:00. Fifteen Overseas Members attended, and seemed quite happy to catch up with old friends.
President Heidi Sweetnam joined and discussed CWAJ’s progress and goals for this year, including the three awards CWAJ has recently been awarded, including the most recent, the Helen Keller and Anne Sullivan Award in appreciation of services for the visually impaired.
Joanne Fallon gave an update on the Highfield Hall Exhibition, which has been successful and well received by the public and the press, including a Yomiuri Shimbun reporter. There are still three weeks left in the exhibition.
Norma Bartruff spoke briefly about the Print Show Guided Tours, and two written guides which have been added to the Print Show Online Gallery, 2025 Guided Tour: “Why Printmaking?” Artists Talks: From Inspiration to Finished Work and A Brief Guide to Printmaking Techniques, and welcomed any Overseas Members who plan to attend the Print Show (there are a few) to take a tour.
A few Overseas Members who live in Europe commented that they were unable to attend due to the timing of the call, and we will take that into consideration when planning the next call, timing it so that they can participate.
The next New Members Welcome Coffee is on Thursday, November 20, at the Roppongi Hills Community Hall (Residence building), from 10:30 to 12:00.
