Get ready for an inspiring celebration of creativity! This year’s Print Show will feature more than 200 incredible artists, showcasing an amazing range of styles and techniques – each one carefully chosen by our expert jury. With so much talent on display, there truly is something for everyone to discover and enjoy.
We’re now in the final weeks of preparation, and the energy is building. Alongside the exhibition, we have a lineup of exciting events we can’t wait to share with you. We’d also love for you to be part of the experience – whether by joining us as a volunteer or simply spreading the word, your support helps make the Print Show a vibrant community event.
We’re looking for volunteers at the Hillside Forum to help keep everything running smoothly. Volunteering is a wonderful way to meet fellow members, connect with artists, and be part of the energy that makes the Print Show so special. You’ll find role descriptions here, and if you’d like to join in, simply reach out to our Volunteer Coordinator Jennifer Oehme, at psvolunteers@cwaj.org. We’d be thrilled to have you on the team!
Events:
The Print Show Kick-Off GM took place on September 17 at the Foreign Correspondents’ Club of Japan (FCCJ), with guest speaker Yuji Hiratsuka, Professor of Printmaking at Oregon State University. Professor Hiratsuka first submitted his work to the Print Show over 40 years ago, and was the 41st CWAJ Print Show catalogue cover artist in 1996. Professor Hiratsuka delivered an enlightening and inspiring presentation, which was attended by more than 120 members and guests.

This year’s Special Exhibition, Amazing Fuji, showcases powerful depictions of Mount Fuji by renowned artists who have deep ties with CWAJ and have made lasting contributions to the world of Japanese printmaking, including HAGIWARA Hideo, AKIYAMA Iwao, YOKOO Tadanori, MORIMURA Ray, and KAWADA Kan.
Additionally, the Legacy Artists Exhibition presents works from longstanding Print Show artists including SHINODA Toko and owl-themed prints by AKIYAMA Iwao.
The special exhibition will be held at two venues, each displaying and selling different works by the same artists. We encourage you to visit both locations.

Please add following paragraph below the photo.
*Back in 1969, the year before Expo ’70, the American photo magazine LOOK commissioned Hagiwara Hideo to create a woodblock print for their cover. The result was this amazing modern ukiyo-e, artfully filled with images of Expo ’70 and the many faces of Osaka. More than half a century later, as Osaka hosts Expo 2025 and CWAJ took a small part of it, this is a perfect work to exhibit in the 2025 Print Show.
In addition to the two physical venues of the 68th Print Show, the exhibition continues online at the CWAJ Print Show Online Gallery. Explore at your leisure, from anywhere in the world! Online print sales will be available in the week following the close of the Hillside Forum venue, but the prints can be viewed there from late September onwards. Worldwide shipping is available. Know someone who would love these prints? Share the site with friends and family and invite them to explore.
Open: October 21 (Tuesday) 9:00 JST
Close: October 26 (Sunday) 18:00 JST
Our Guided Tour Coordinators have been working hard to ensure that our popular guided tour service will again be available free to the public. In addition to twice-daily tours (11:30 and 14:30), they will offer private tours to groups of people signed up by CWAJ members—their friends, family and acquaintances. Help us spread the word! For private tour requests, send an email to pstours@cwaj.org specifying a date/time and language (English or Japanese) desired, the number of participants, and your name, e-mail address and phone number.
Michiko Okubo has produced two comprehensive, highly informative documents, The 2025 Guided Tour: “Why Printmaking?” and A Brief Guide to Printmaking Techniques. These documents are available to all CWAJ members so that everybody can be an impromptu guide to friends or visitors. View the documents via the links above in order to learn more about the rich and varied world of print art!
Our catalogue cover artist this year is Noriko Konno. We think her print, Moon in natural settings, makes a stunning cover and one which is quite different from our cover prints of recent years. Konno-san will attend the Print Show for catalogue cover signing on Wednesday 15 October, from 11:30 to 12:30 and 15:00 to16:00.
