Dear Members!
It is finally Fall! And, the Print Show is right around the corner. It is the biggest event of the year and definitely worth a visit to see this year’s artists and the most current trends in Japanese contemporary print making.
I invite each of you to bring a friend to the Print Show and to take advantage of the regularly scheduled guided tours at 11:00 and 14:00.
Thursday, October 16 is a perfect day to visit the Print Show. On that day there will also be a CWAJ Social Gathering for members and guests held at the Hillside Club Salon a short five minute walking distance from the Print Show. This event will take place from 15:00 to 17:00. There will be free flowing drinks and a relaxed atmosphere to re-connect after the long hot summer. Sign ups are requested so that we can plan for finger foods, and the like. JPY2000 at the door. (Space is limited)
I am delighted to tell you that CWAJ has won another award!
On September 5, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan presented the College Women’s Association of Japan (CWAJ) with the Foreign Minister’s Commendation for FY2025. CWAJ was recognized for its contributions to promoting mutual understanding of cultural, intellectual, and aesthetic values between Japan and other countries. In particular, CWAJ was applauded for its unique scholarship program and its annual exhibition of contemporary Japanese print art.
CWAJ was one of only seven organizations in Japan to receive this prestigious award in FY2025, underscoring the significance of its contributions. Globally, the Commendation was also conferred on 173 individuals and 58 groups.
The Commendation is the second award that CWAJ has received this summer. Awareness of our organization is expanding. These awards are evidence that our profile is becoming more established outside our membership!
