Cartier Japan and the College Women’s Association of Japan (CWAJ) are pleased to announce the launch of the “CWAJ Cartier Scholarship” for Japanese women to study abroad.
Since its founding in 1949, CWAJ has continued to respond to the needs of society in a wide range of fields, including education, the arts, international exchange, and social contribution. As a Japan-based, 100% volunteer organization, Cartier Japan chose to collaborate with CWAJ to establish this scholarship program to nurture future changemakers, echoing CWAJ’s pioneering spirit. In 2022, CWAJ proudly celebrates the 50th anniversary of awarding scholarships to Japanese women to study abroad. Empowering women to achieve their potential is crucial for positive change locally and globally.
Cartier has a long-standing commitment to support women. In 2006, Cartier established the Cartier Women’s Initiative, a program to promote change through the support of women entrepreneurs, and in 2021, exhibited the “Women’s Pavilion” in collaboration with the Expo 2020 Dubai Recently, Cartier Japan held the Cartier Women’s Conference to further advance women’s empowerment in Japanese society, strengthening Cartier Japan’s own efforts to realize a genderfree society.
The CWAJ Cartier Scholarship is granted to a Japanese woman to study abroad in an English language graduate program to further her leadership potential in entrepreneurship. Scholarships are awarded based on a candidate’s academic excellence, the quality and feasibility of her proposed study, and her potential to contribute to society through entrepreneurship and business. The College Women’s Association of Japan, a 100% volunteer organization, is a group of women supporting women through education, arts, community and friendship. Founded in 1949, our primary mission is the provision of scholarships that are funded by donations and proceeds from the CWAJ Print Show. CWAJ serves the community by providing educational services for children and adults, including innovative programs for the visually impaired. CWAJ offers opportunities to engage in meaningful volunteer projects, participate in cross-cultural events and to make friendships with women, including LGBTQ+ individuals, from around the world.
