Welcome!
The College Women’s Association of Japan (CWAJ) is a non-profit organization comprising nearly 400 women from over 25 countries. Founded in 1949, CWAJ is dedicated to empowering women through education, the arts, community service, and international cross-cultural relations.
To date, we have provided funding for more than 900 scholars and contributed over one billion yen to CWAJ scholarships program. Our scholars have gone on to become trailblazers in their respective fields (https://cwaj.org/scholarship/). We extend our sincere gratitude to the corporations, organizations, individuals, who have generously donated for their continued support of our scholarship program.
In 2025, we were honored to receive three prestigious awards: the Women’s Challenge Award from the Gender Equality Bureau of the Cabinet Office, the Commendation Award from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), and the 33rd Helen Keller Sallivan Award from the Tokyo Helen Keller Association. We are deeply grateful for these recognitions and feel a strong responsibility to carry forward the passionate legacy built by previous generations.
The CWAJ Print Show, which supports CWAJ’s scholarship and education programs, will mark its significant 70th anniversary next year. Since its opening with a tape-cutting by founding Honorary Chairman Oliver Statler, an art critic, this exhibition has continued to widely showcase the appeal of Japanese contemporary printmaking, featuring artists ranging from renowned masters to promising new talents. Supported by your generous support and cooperation, it is now widely acclaimed as Japan’s largest contemporary print exhibition and on-site sales venue.
If you are looking to make a meaningful contribution to society, CWAJ is the place for you. If you are interested in empowering women, exploring art, or building international friendships, CWAJ welcomes you. All members will embrace you as part of our community.
