Non-Japanese Graduate Scholarship

CWAJ GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP
FOR NON-JAPANESE WOMEN TO STUDY IN JAPAN (NJG)

The Non-Japanese Graduate Program (NJG), established in 1981, supports graduate study in Japan for non-Japanese women who are enrolled in a PhD degree program at a Japanese university. Women students from 50 countries have benefited from the NJG Program. Scholarships are awarded based on a candidate’s academic excellence, the quality and feasibility of her proposed study, and her potential to contribute to society. The Scholarship does not impose restrictions on field of study or age.

Two Scholarships of ¥2.0 million will be awarded in 2025.

The Application Period for the 2025 CWAJ Scholarships are now closed.

The posted application information is for reference only. Applications for the 2026 Scholarships will be available in July 2025.

If you have questions that are not answered in the FAQ, use the Contact Us form. Choose “Scholarship” and put “NJG Scholarship” in the title of your inquiry. Once you have registered for an Application ID Number for the 2025 application, please use that number in your communications with the Committee. You may send your inquiry in English or Japanese. CWAJ is an all-volunteer organization; please allow some time for a response.
